Educated in economics, computing and banking. Jan Erik had a 13-year banking career before he started at the University nearly 30 years ago in the central administration, acting head of budget section and also acting finance director for some time. Later computing department, then Faculty of Humanities. Ended up at the library working on OA in 2006, after becoming interested in scholarly publishing and advocating OA in the mid 1990’s – studying documentation science, ending up with a master’s degree in 2011. He has had numerous roles within OA, starting with being part of the Institutional Repository team, going on to wider OA responsibilities nationally, later developing the Diamond publication service Septentrio Academic Publishing, while also developing and administering the publication fund.  Formerly part of the OpenAIRE and OpenAIREplus projects, chair of SPARC Europe, DOAJ Advisory Board. Publishes both scholarly and popular articles on OA-related themes.

The presentation will focus on:

  • What is Diamond OA, and how important is it?
  • What are some of the problems with Diamond OA?
  • What (and who) is the DIAMAS project, what do I expect to be the outcome?
