Per Pippin Aspaas
Per Pippin Aspaas holds a PhD in history of science and is an active researcher in fields such as Latin philology and early-modern intellectual history. Since 2009, he has been working at the University Library of University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway (UiT), where he is now the head of a team for Research and Publishing Support. UiT’s library runs several peer-reviewed diamond OA journals as well as an institutional repository for green open access documents (articles, MA and PhD theses, reports). Aspaas is part of UiT’s Council for Research Strategy. In this capacity, he facilitated the process leading to UiT adopting its institutional Rights Retention Policy. This policy ensures that all publications from UiT-affiliated scholars since 2022 can be shared in green open access. Open Science Talk, an English-language podcast series providing insight into open science projects in Norway and the wider world, is hosted by Aspaas.
Joanna Ball
Joanna Ball is the Managing Director of the Directory of Open Access Journals, a community-led open infrastructure which curates a unique index of over 20,000 diverse open access journals from around the world. Joanna is responsible for ensuring that DOAJ fulfils its mission by setting strategic direction, leading on advocacy and engagement, and securing the organisation's sustainability. Joanna joined DOAJ in 2022 after spending over 25 years in academic library management and leadership roles in the UK and Denmark. She is a previous Chair of UKSG’s Board of Trustees.
Sara Kjellberg
Sara Kjellberg holds a PhD in Information Studies and is the Library Director at Malmö University, where she leads the development of the library as a dynamic meeting place for learning and exploration. Her research interests include information practices, scholarly communication, digital communication and the role of research libraries in supporting scholarly practices.
Charlotte Wien, Elsevier
Dr. Charlotte Wien is Vice President of European Library Relations at Elsevier and full professor of Scholarly Communication at Arctic University in Tromso, Norway. She holds a PhD in Information Retrieval. In her previous positions she has worked both as library leader and as professor both within library and information science and communication studies.
Moderator: Håkan Carlsson
Håkan Carlsson is Library Director at Lund University. His research interest is focused on the development of research libraries and the interaction with the users. He has previously served as Deputy Library Director and Director of Library Administration at Gothenburg University Library. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and has also held positions as Assistant Professor, Director of Scientific Communication and University Bibliometrician.
