Timon Oefelein

Timon Oefelein joined Springer Nature’s Berlin offices in 2000 as the publisher’s global manager of copywriting. Since then, several posts followed, including in 2007, Head of Global Product Data. In 2010, he moved into Marketing to develop a unique training and support service for academic libraries in Europe. Project highlights include developing a mobile app for The British Library and launching a special series of keynote lectures for The European Commission.  
 
In 2018, his role expanded to include strategic partnership work on Open Science. His collaborative project work with Maastricht University, on the topic of societal impact of research, won both the LIBER Libraries Innovation Award 2021, and the Springer Nature Innovation Award 2020.  
 
In the Summer of 2022, Timon moved into a new role as Senior Academic Affairs Manager, where he is leading on Nordic countries. He is particularly interested in cross-industry collaboration to address the key challenges underpinning the transition to Open Science.  
 
Timon graduated in Economics and Politics at Bath University, and a Master's in Journalism at Strathclyde University. He is based in Springer Nature’s Berlin offices.
